04 RXP GPS'd @ 68.7
Well, Finally picked up a GPS and took the ski out for a speed run.
Ext. Temp. 64
Water Temp 53
Mods are in signature but, 14/19R, Riva 3in, Ride plate holes filled. OPAS Blockoffs (Not Pro)
So, my goal was 70MPH. I know thats really slow but im on a college kid budget so i try and keep things as cost effective as possible . . . . I'm not sure how much fuel so next time im going to make sure i have barely enough. I believe i know what my biggest problem is. . .Myself. . . 6 4' 270 So im not exactly the smallest rider but any more ideas on cheap upgrades? My next move was going to be a R&D intake grate.

R&D Grate is a good choice. It is the best of both worlds. Another 'cheap' mod is filling the ride plate holes. Another mod is a 4" intake. Kanaflex 620 WD and you need 7 foot. Also you need a 4" adapter.
How many hours on the ski? Has the charger been rebuilt?

What were your RPM's at WOT (Wide Open Throttle)? Did they stop at 7700? If so, you need a knock sensor update harness and you will gain more speed. The speeds sound about right. Fill those ride plate holes and you will see 70 more than likely...

Yeah, i think the R&D is next! I think ill order it tomorrow. it has 111hrs on it, yeah the charger was rebuilt at 60hrs or so with the new washers and everything. I bought the ski from another member, dsolie. On my best run i hit 8100 for a second it was at about 8050. I have already filled the ride plate holes, but not the intake grate holes. The water wasn't flat either so im hoping maybe that'll give me .5 mph or so.

Yeah, smooth water and the R&D should be sufficient.

Okay, lets see what happens haha! Ive also noticed that i cant ride while seated on the very back of the seat. When i try to sit on the back of it the ski begins to porpious. Is there something thats not quite aligned? Maybe its just that im too big

You want the physics answer or the dumb answer to the porpoising issue?

The R&d will help a little with the porpoising

When do you experiance the porposing???you get low on fuel ???When you get low on fuel and you shift your weight back you can experiance this as the front end get lighter......Also invest in the 4 inch air intake system..you will see a gain in RPM which equals speed..The Riva intake grate will get you a bit more speed than the R&D but doesnt hook as well in the chop...Add a Riva grate and 4 inch air intake and you should be right at or above 70
