    Totally O/T: Water softeners

Are any of you guys experts on water softeners?

My brine tank is half full of water, and there should only be about 6" in the tank.........

What do you think the issue is?

(Crossing my fingers hoping we have a resident water softener guy on this board)

Is that the same as "refreshing" the system?

There is a button on the control unit that I have pushed and it goes into a regeneration mode.

Other than that there is no way to back flush it............????????

It sounds like when the system regenerates it isn't sucking all the water out of the brine tank. This could be caused because of a blockage. The tank is refilling but not emptying. Hopefully you don't have much salt in the tank and you can stir it up. If you unblock it then when you do a regenerate it should go back to the normal level.

I have not checked anything yet, I was hoping someone would have a magic bullet.

I have the brine tank almost 3/4 full! I suppose I gotta get all the salt out of the thing and have a look-see
