    Lifting a PWC

Has anyone used one of those 2 ton capacity foldable shop cranes to lift a PWC from a tralier to a shop stand or another trailer. I would be using a PWC lifting harness hooked to the crane.

I use my forklift with the harness. I'm sure the shop
crane would work. I'll try and post up a picture.

Thanks MacDaddy, I wish I had a forklift. I am worried that the shop crane will not properly position under the trailer and the balance will be wrong.

I tried it with a 2 ton folding crane. Several issues. 1) the folding crane would not straddle the trailer tires far enough to get centered on the trailer (single Trailer). 2)Arm on crane had to be extended all the way (reducing capacity to 1/2 ton. It would just raise my 06 RXT. 3) My dolly would not straddle the folding crane.

I ended up buying a 1 ton gantry crane from HF it works great.

Hi again Helinut. I just looked at the HF gantry crane and though much bigger than the foldable cranes it will do the job. Did you also buy a trolley and chain hoist or do you use another method of lifting.

Yep, works great with a sling. I built the cart myself and made sure the legs of any engine hoist would clear the legs and center brace of the cart. You have to make sure the legs on your hoist will straddle your trailer tires. If you push the hoist to the 5 / 7 o'clock position to your tires it should clear just fine.

Thanks. I just sent you a private message but am unsure if it went out. Let me know.
