Old school polaris 94 new member

    Hi
I have a 94 polaris slt. I just bought a used Impellar with housing off fleebay. Got this thing for free and was hoping for the best took it to the lake to try it out and a hose in the hull popped off and water filled the hull to the top of the engine had to push it in swimming anyway now it wont start. I ran the water out of the pistons and sucked it out of the carbs and pumped the pistons without plugs to clear them bought new plugs and not seeing any spark. just went out to try again when I noticed the carbs had alot of fuel went to clear the pistons and got a real lot of gas spouting. I dont know alot about these or 2 stroke engines. anyone wanna give me some advise on how to fix it?

Check battery voltage. Low voltage will cause no spark but the engine will still crank. With the plugs out (such as when checking for spark) there is little backpressure on the starter and therefore allows a weak battery to crank the engine fast enough to generate spark. With the plugs in the engine cranks slower on a weaker battery and therefore won't create spark.

found the problem was a loose fuel line at the pump tightened it and it started. thanks guys. I think my next issue is dead spot in carb at take off and why it wont idle. Gonna look at adjusting that later any help is good thanks again.

    Welcome to the Hulk.

Forget about trying to adjust the flat spot out. You're probably going to want to do the upgrades before you chase your tail.
