Drive shaft casing
Hey guys, I can't post a photo because I'm on my phone, but here goes.
One of my mates 08 rxtx's has a plastic/rubber casing over the drive shaft, it has recently started to break away from the shaft. What is his best approach to solve this problem. Can he just cut the rest of it away? Why is it even needed? My 08 rxpx never had this casing.

My 09 X has the plastic sleeve on it. I'll have to check the condition of it in the morning. I know before I started riding this season it did not have any issues. I really don't know what the purpose of it is.

they did i to stop the shaft rusting but went away from it in 2011 so I guess they had issues. I cant see any reason why you cant cut off the remaining rubber if you want to, but I would take the shaft out so you get all of it right up to the carbon seal hat.
