96 SL 700 spark plug wire replacement

I recently bought and someone has cut wires too short. I have already bought the solid core wire. I took the electrical box apart and the wires appear to be permanently sealed to the ignition coil. This unit does not have the updated ignition. How do I replace the wires?

Have you taken the plug boots off ?
The coil also has a threaded spike and the plug wire threads onto that spike, just like the plug boot.
If you lube the plug wires, you should be able to slide them into the elect box, so you can get a good grip on the wire.

I have not taken the boot off but i took the elect box apart. The wires went into the coil and they appear to be permanently sealed. I did not see any threaded connection.

Correct, the "spike" threads into the center of the wire.
After it's been together for 15 years, it can be stubborn.
