FX HO fix it or sell it?

I recently came across a good deal on an 06 fx ho with a hole in the block. But as im looking for a new motor this seems like a common problem. I have found atleast 15 other fx ho's with the same problem. I wanted to fix it but im not sure now. Is the fx ho not realiable? Should I fix it or sell it and go a different route. Im looking for a low maintence waverunner that will last me awhile. Thanks

What year FX HO? 140 or 160? I've never heard of these skis being unreliable.... let alone "15 skis" with holes in their blocks.

The forums are always going to show worse case scenario and you typically don't have the thousands of others who haven't had any issues posting. We have 3 FX HO's in the group we ride in ranging from 30+hrs to about 150hrs without any issues. They are high strung no doubt when cruising around at 9500rpms or so. You're best bet will be to part it out if you can't find an engine. Rebuilds needing crank and cases is very costly on these things. I just picked up an 04 FX140 with 8hrs that had ingested water and was taken apart and just sat that way for $1,000 with a brand new looking loadrite trailer. The engine rebuild for mine only needing bore/top end and having the head gone over is around $1500. Parting out you'll get much more out of it.
