Starter Bendix Washers? Need Help ASAP please????

Guys, I am assembling the PTO end today and I found something that I am not sure about on the bendix. I find one drawing that shows a flange washer and one that does not. Long story short, I do not have a flange washer in my parts bag. I looked at the parts diagram for replacement parts and it doesn't list one for sale, although it kinda makes sense that there would be one where they specify. I guess you would have to buy a new bendix??????????

Do I need a shoulder washer or not?

I just pulled my friends apart and there were 3 washers. 2 appeared to be identical to the SC spring washers and the other wash just a thin shim washer.

What they are showing as a shoulder washer looked like a spacer about 3/4 inch long. Ours is still on the starter shaft.

Look at the illustrations again......they are the same, just numbered differently. But yeah, you need number 3.

No, they are not the same. The second image has an insert inside the cup that is on the end of the bendix shaft. The only purpose I could see to the shoulder washer is to support the spring washer a little better. I wonder if I can use a flat washer???????????????

I have only seen those in a couple of 2003's i parted out. The others have only had the 2 spring washers and the flat washer .
