    Hello Everyone,

We are holding our 3rd Annual Tour De Virginia Ride in Sepember of this year and we are hoping that you may want to come along on this great trip. Below is a time schedule for the ride. Please feel free to email or post here should you have any questions. Also we have a September 6th deadline for those wishing to go to let us know.

    Thanks

3rd Annual Tour De Virginia Ride September 10, 2011

125 mile ride from the Willoughby Boat Ramp (near the Hampton Bridge/Tunnel), heading west by the Naval Base, south down the Elizabeth River to Downtown Norfolk, southeast to the Great Bridge Lock, east through the intracoastal waterway (ICW), then south again to the VA/NC stateline. From there another 20 miles south via Currituck Sound to the Coinjock Marina & Restaurant (
http://www.coinjockmarina.com/restaurant.php) for gas and lunch, then return. There's plenty of pier parking for the skis just feet from the restaurant.

0730 Start of ride (needs to be early to secure first come/first serve weekend parking at Willoughby Boat Ramp and make a timely Great Bridge Lock opening)
0930 Arrive Great Bridge Lock (GBL) for bottom-of-the-hour opening
100 Depart GBL 1100 Arrive Coinjock NC (lunch & fuel at Coinjock Marina & Restaurant)
    1300 Depart Coinjock NC
1500 Arrive GBL for top-of-the-hour opening
    1530 Depart GBL
    1700 End of Ride

If you would like to join us for this ride please post a reply here or send an email to [email protected] by Tuesday September 6, 2011

Thanks and we hope to see everyone again this year

Hopefully the people who started this thread will actually show up this year and not leave a bunch of skiers at the dock who don't know where they are going. Good thing too bold was there to save the day.

Well for starters John is a member of our group and is the lead rider for that ride so you had what you needed to begin with. Second when we ask to people to register for the ride it is for a reason so we know how many and who will be there. For those that just show up that is a risk they take. So Hopefully those riding will drop us an e-mail so we know who is going.

    Thanks

Just wanted to update everyone on the 3rd Annual Tour De Virginia Ride September 10, 2011. Due to the weather forecast, the ride has been cancelled this year. The president of PA RiverRunners has made the call and I must say I agree. Many of the riders this year would be traveling several hours to make this ride and with the weather outlook, it just would not make since for them to travel that far with the forecast calling for isolated thunderstorms. Now, this will not be called the Tour De Virginia ride, but if anyone would still like to make the ride, IF the weather is good, I will still make the run starting at 8am. I will keep an eye on the weather and if anyone is still interested please post on here. Again, I would like to thank the president of the PA RiverRunners (Watts) for a great season of riding and for all the hard work he has put into planning and leading some of the best rides of the season. Here is a official cancellation posting from PA RiverRunners President, Watts on the cancellation of Tour De Virginia Ride.

    Hello Everyone,

With many concerns about the weather this weekend and really no weather models showing a clear weekend I have decided to cancel the ride this Saturday September 10th. The ride will be rescheduled at a later date if time and weather permit.

Thank You all again for your interest in the Tour De Virginia Ride.
