    slt 750 won't start

So after about 4 hours of riding the ski today, I hopped on it to head back to shore and noticed it sounded very weak when starting. Then after a few times of starting it and killing it, it just sounded weaker and weaker. Now it just makes a click sound and doesn't try to start at all. I'm afraid it may be the charging system? It has a brand new battery in it, which I will check tomorrow. Did notice some water got in from somewhere and it was just enough to soak everything inside...it's possible my cdi got wet. Any ideas here? I fear the worst because the motor is corroded too much to try to take apart even for a simple fix...

Start with the battery, check the cables, then open the elec box and look for water or corrosion.

thanks for the reply, i'll check it out when I get home. If it does happen to be the charging system, what part actually charges the batter in this thing, and where is it located?

Magneto at the front of the engine and the voltage regulator in the elec box.

So the battery tested full strength and good under a load. The "click" is coming from the cdi box. Would the voltage regulator make that noise?

    Nope, the starter solenoid would.

You need to see if the engine spins freely. If it does put 12V directly to the starter.

If it then turns over, the solenoid is bad. If it doesn't, bad starter.

banged the starter a bit and it fired right up. the starter wasn't even making an attempt to turn until i banged it so i'm sure it's just dirty inside the electrical parts. i'm going to pull it off and take it apart and clean it.

    Most likely it's rust/corrosion.

I would get a spare starter on its way right away. But that's just me.

hey I totally agree...and if the starter will in fact come off i'll be replacing it as soon as I can. With everything being so corroded i'm not sure if i'll be able to get it off without breaking heads off bolts.... It would totally suck to have to pull the motor over a starter. Know of any places to get a good new one besides sbt?
