Thread: slt range

Can anyone out there give me a rough idea of how far the 700 would go on a tank of gas. Once I've done a little testing I'd like to try a ride from Freeport to the Abaco chain. I think my longest distance would be about 20Mi. We have a sailboat for overnight and supplies but it would be a bit further behind @ 5or 6 Kt topspeed.

Well, my two seater with a 1050 I believe burns 9.8 gallons an hour at wide open throttle. Thats roughly sixty miles per hour. So I figure I could go sixty miles on one tank. I have never tried it, and frankly I never will...I am not sure if that engine would be too happy with me riding it wide open for an hour!!

Needless to say, your 700 is gonna suck way less gas and get way better mileage, I would say you can make twenty miles all day. The stats boys with the actual figures will be chiming in soon....I can feel it.

Thanks absentx That give me a start. I was figuring on riding just above planing speed, maybe 15-20MPH. I trust your feelings.

There is a basic rule of thumb that usually gives you a little room.
You will burn 10% of the rated HP at WOT.
So let's say you have 80HP. At wide open throttle you would consume 8 gallons per hour.
You have a 15 gallon tank so at 55MPH you could cover roughly 100 miles before you exhaust you 15 gallon tank.
I could only guess at 15-20 MPH you could cover at least 120 miles??

Thats a lot better than I thought but I'll do a run to or next inlet which I know is 10 Mi and back on a full tank and then refill. that way I don,t waste too much gas and will be able to test the theory at the same time.Who knows I might head the other way and end up in West Palm Beach on 1 tank. Its only 56 Mi. Thanks ph20.
