How about some pros and cons to converting a 3 seater to UMI?

CON ... wtf do you do with the stock buttons... utilize the stock plastic button thing?

but u can get creative with it, i know you are...

everything else about it is kick ass... ask Pale Rider if he ran into any fitment issues with the stock steering cable and/or glove box area i wonder?

The only real PITA is that the steering cable had a memory of it`s position for 2 years, and getting the cable to flex/re-route at a much steeper angle was tuff. You want to trial fit everything, plan your course of action and start bolting it up. Once the steering cable was bolted up and adjusted using the center hole in the steering arm, the cable relaxed into it`s new position and it was smooth as glass once again. I just modified the stock button housing until something good comes along, but this will sufice for now...PR...

note* watch the angle of the cable where it goes thru the hull to the steering nozzle, it will want to bend right. I epoxied a plastic thing that accepts a zip tie where necc to hold cable straight.

    Steve and Andy,

What exactly are you two talking about with the stock buttons? It looks like Andy found a carbon fiber face and looks pretty good. Also, how do you know what type of bars and things like how wide and high to get?

Jay... for the RXP they make a billet aluminum UMI switch housing for the start and VTS buttons that looks real nice... no provisions for the mode/set buttons tho

Andy used his stock plastic button holder... that's how the 04 GTX skis came... with that carbon fiber button holder.. ur options are using the same plastic button holder u have now (which is what Andy used) or be creative and do your own thing...

personally... i hate the kawi bars, but that's just me... I've ridden UMI setups with the UMI kawi bars, the UMI Seadoo bars, and the Riva bars.... I have the Riva bars on my UMI setup... jerry and andy have Kawi bars... two2curupt has Seadoo UMI bars on his GTX

i guess it's all a matter of preference...

Jay, take a closer look at the pics. I cut away the uneccessary plastic from the original switch/housing, cleaned it up and mounted it on the bars. To tighten up the switch housing, I cut a very thin piece of plastic sheet, (like the kind you get with one of the advertisement new car dealer liscense plate thingy`s) and slipped that bewteen the housing and the bars , bc seadoo uses the allen/post with a hole in the bars to locate switch housing...I just used an allen screw and snugged it up...PR...

OK, so who has the best prices and is there a site to check this stuff out? I'd like to just get everything like the bars, UMI, and finger throttle all from one place....
