1995 XP800 with rattle in waterbox, replacement ideas?

I am stripping and rebuilding my old xp800. Motor is out, fuel liens replaced, etc.

My waterbox has something rattling round inside that is to big to fit out the holes.

It is fitted with a Rave valve so I dont think a bypass with a straight pipe will work.

Is there an aftermarket solution, or I should I try and source a sea-doo waterbox?

    Any input is appreciated.

I had same problem. These are common issues with the 95/96 xp. You need a updated 97+ spx box or I went the TDR route.

Joe, what is the TDR route, and do you have a source for the SPX waterbox?

Is the SPX box waterbox identical to the 95 800?

Is there any advantage to one over the other?

    Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Cut the stock one apart and weld everything back together.

Yes the 97-99 spx box is identical to the 95 box. Just updated so these issues don't happen.

Tdr box is a high flow box so it is louder than stock. Personally I love it.

    Tdr= Tony doukas racing.

Joe, does the tdr box still use the rave valve waterregulator? Is TDR in business, and producing these parts, or would I have to find a used one? Any performance loss with the tar?

Do you have good source for parts like the water box? I lost the number to my old supplier out of Cali?

    Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Yes they are still in business and do great work I have his rear exit setup for my rxp and I love it. I had is box on my old xp and it sounded great and was not expensive at all.

TDR will make up a baffled box but they are telling me the 95 xp800 has a different water box than the rest?

I don't mind if it is a bit louder, but not to crazy. I just don't want to lose performance or reliability.

I don't think the aluminum will be very easy to weld. Has anyone done this successfully?

The last one I had welded up a high end custom car shop did it. Welds better than the factory. Check with machine shop and metal fab shops shouldn't be a problem for them.

You may have to run a longer hose between the pipe and waterbox. I used a 96+ waterbox valve cuz my 95 one was a pile of garbage. I love hpw it sounds on the upper rpms.
