    1.8 HO Motor

Am looking at purchasing a new FX HO for cruising and was wondering how these N/A 1.8 motors are holding up, are they as reliable as the old HO motor?

I own a 2006 FX-HO 160 and a 2011 VXR-HO and all I can say is I wish I had the 1800 motor on my FX-HO. This 1800 motor is 1000X better in every way shape and form compared to the old MR-1 engines, Julio...

No, the old FX-HO is still king on fuel millage. I get 5 MPG on the new HO1800 motor, the old HO1052 gives me 8MPG. these are WOT numbers tested side by side on a 40 mile Kissimmee ride on the same day, Julio...

Thanks for this piece of info! My 1100cc FX HO gets me 5.5 in open water riding where throttle modulation is a lot and loading and unloading happens constantly! This goes to show how hard rough water riding can be on the engine causing serious increase in consumption!

A friend has the 2010 FX HO, he nearly consumed exactly like me after an 80 mile trip in open water! So the new HO is more efficient compare to old one in open water! I did not know that the old FX HO in lake can consume so little at WOT!

Yes it does. And yes in open water (Florida keys) mine consumes just as much as my friend's Reflahed FZR, Julio...

"I get 5 MPG on the new HO1800 motor" Abracadabra, this is a big difference from what the BoatTest guy said for the 2012 model, 3.4 [email protected] Are you rounding up, is that guy wrong, or is your ski that much less fuel hungry than the 7" longer ski of 2012? Just trying sort it out... I wonder if they changed the hull other than the length... weight's not much different.
