300X fuel range and MPG
Put 85 miles on the ski yesterday, cruising at 40mph, 5,250 rpm, ~ 1 lb of boost, in eco mode, I managed 70 miles before the beeper went off. I was actually pretty happy about my 4.5 mpg. Since getting my Garmin forerunner i am quite suprised at how many miles were actually riding in comparison to how many I thought we were riding.

i allways have trouble in activating eco mode on my sky. and a friend of mine also. nice numbers chris

you have to hold it for a second or 2 to activate it and then hold it for about 3 seconds to deactivate it, at idle of course.

Yes i could engage it 3 or 4 times but now it is useless. Maybe its broken now. 14hs on the sky

What octane fuel do you need for eco mode? I know the owner's manual is wrong.

my ride today.. consisted of an ocean ride in 2m swell with 15-20knott winds lots of chop the ride was 75km (47mi) down the coast and the same to return.
i chose to ride the ski in eco mode (btw which only needs the quickest press of the button to activate) i rode the whole ride in this mode using the cruise 40% of the time at a speed of 40-50kmh (25-31mph) with a few bursts at WOT and the odd play in the surf break cruising rpm was around 4000-4800rpm. the fuel buzzer went off at 90km (56mi) i continued on back to the ramp within site of the ramp i opened the ski up to WOT and it shut the motor down (no fuel) restarted and continued on i done this again at WOT this time nearly throwing me over the bars lol, the ski will run on the plane but starves at extended WOT so its nearly empty i made it to the ramp and the ride finished smack on 150km (93mi) so the ski with the buzzer on managed to do another 60km (37mi) on the 28ltrs (7.4gal) reserve.
so ridden conservatively the ski does have a great range actually out doing some of the other supercharged craft that were on the same ride.

I am going to take my 6hrs 300X to a "long" journey this wednesday.
Here is my plan:
74 miles return trip
Few speed ups
Moderate carry load
There will be refuel opportunities mid way. I will try to see how far I can go with out it.

We did another LONG trip this weekend, we went from Catskill NY to the first lock on the Hudon in Troy NY. Round trip ended up being 92 miles. I did the first 45 in eco mode and never budged above 5K and 40 mph, I manged 46 miles on 8.5 gallons, for 5.3 mpg, My wife on here FZS used 7.5, for 6.1 mpg, RiverRunner used 6.5 on his 15F, for 7 mpg, and my firend on her GTI used 4.5 gallons, for an unbelieveable 10MPG.
I am convinced in ECO mode and crusing between 35 and 42 mph, I could get 100 miles out of a tank.
