Well we had two of the 2003 models for a while, they were pretty good on gas as I recall. They are not normally considered a high maintenance ski, but it's gonna depend on how many hours it has on it.

I don't know what you mean about repairs, are you looking at one for sale? Used PWC can be a crap shoot; does it run and have you given it a test ride? Throw out some more info maybe someone can help you.

if you are consumed about fuel consumption find smallest engine possible.. that or why bother..

the more throttle you give it the faster the tank will empty. I can go through 5-6 gallons during a CC 30 min practice..

I have an Fx140. Its slow and seems very easy on fuel compared to any other ski I have had. It has required very little outside of normal maintenance such as oil change.
its been a great ski for my nieces, wife and guests to ride but I am bored to death with it in 5 minutes of seat time.

the FX 140 much like the VX is a rec / rental ski.. or like a water moped if you will. Fun if you have never had a real motorcycle.
    Bullet proof and durable.
The SHO series especially the FZ .. you want high performance. you have to PAY to play..
