    What impeller are you using?

Hi guys. It's a little slow in here lately, so I figured it would be a good time to try and see what people are using. And hopefully the results they are getting. Right now, my 650/750 conversion limited engine is going to use the Skat Trak 12/17 swirl and extended pump. Looking for arm stretching acceleration out of this one, and I'm going to try the stock venturi and the 87mm bored one to see if there's any difference. Anyone try the Wetwolf freestyle cone? Now my PSI special will be trying to achieve top speed numbers solely to beat my bosses Yam 1100 that's rated 63MPH stock. With close to 160HP (per PSI catalog) I'm open for suggestions in this area. The real reason I opened this thread. Thanks

I have only used Skat-Trak impellers so far. The freestyle cone is for stand ups. The adjust a thrust has caught my eye though and I'm trying to control my impulsive watercraft spending for now anyway.

According to wetwolf.com, part # FSPOL details state it is good for towing, and popping out the biggest skier.

The cone is like a bored nozzle. I think a 12/17, bored nozzle and short cone is overkill. You will not have top speed.

no yamaha 1100 can do 63 stock. You should be able to smoke him regardless of your impeller choice. . . unless his isn't stock.

If he has a raider 1100, it will be close because that hull was designed solely for speed. If he has a venture 1100, your 650 and an extended pump should be able to smoke him

He has a 2006 Yam 1100 maybe 1200? High Output. 3 seater with tilt steering. It's pretty laid out. I can believe it does 63 MPH, Anyway, what are you using on your ski? I'm curious to see if anyone runs Nu jets or Solas too.

Ohh, ok. Probably a fx110 or something. big ass 3 seat 4 stroker. If so, then low 60's is probably pushing it, but close.

I use a skat ?? 12-16 tweaked by island racing. Not sure witch hub design it is. For your set up, I'd start with a stock prop from a pro 785, and see where you are. It's a skat prop, and once the carbs are dialed, spend the $70 to have one of the pro's tweak it and make it better than new. Alot cheaper than buying a bunch of different props.

Yeah it is a 4 stroke, I forgot to mention that. A pro 785 uses a 12/17 (never understood that), seems a bit low for a lightweight hull, powerful engine, doesn't it? And why is everyone sending their impellers to be "tweaked"? Thanks guys

The "tweaking" is to allow you to get the engine working in the desired "sweet spot". Let's say PSI designed those pipes to run in the 7700RPM range and your 12/17 impeller was turning at 7600 RPM, you could send the impeller to Impros, Skat and any dozens of impeller freaks. They will "massage/tweak" the impeller so that it runs right at that 7700RPM range.

Let's also say that you're spinning the prop out of the hole due to the excess HP, they can change the other end of the impeller so it has more "bite", which will reduce or eliminate the slippage out of the hole and allow you to launch out of the hole faster.
