    Oil filter orings

    Hello all

Changed the oil on my ski today

When removing the oil filter lid i split the skinny oring

Does this just sit in the same groove as the thicker oring?

Is there a reason for doubling up?

I ran it on the hose without it (just to get my levels right and it didn't seem to leak

How urgent it it for me to replace it?

    thanks
    Luke

i did the same thing today as well. I was using a flathead screwdriver to pop off the cap and *bink* it broke. To me it just seems like a precautionary thing. i wouldnt worry about it. I know i'm not worrying about it.

On the new models, the cover comes up when you unscrew the bolt, no more prying the cover off.

    That looks good

I found an easy way to get the cover off after i destroyed the oring - grab the top with vice grips.
