2001 gp 1200r wont rev past 5500 and is running lean help!!
hey guys i have a 2001 gp 1200r its running lean and only revs to 5500 its slow getting up there its holding back i was riding it when i lost power i was low on fuel at the time . i checked the pv they are opening i took the carbs off figuring maybe i sucked up dirt cleaned the filters out still same problem on the dock it revs straight to 8000 it runs fine out of the water its just seems to do it under load but even then its not missing or anything it just wont move getting up there its stock except a prop an ideas guys thanks

#1 Do a proper compression check on all 3 cyls. If even across the 3 then move on, if not find out why. NO MORE than a 12lbs difference.
#2 If compression is ok, check the catalytic converter for restriction or breakage. If ok move on.
#3 check the fuel flapper in the pickup. Here is a link on how.
#4 If all of the above check out ok, you have additional problems. Continue with this thread advising us of the results of #'s 1,2,3 above.
