ouch... ring stuck , jammed the rod and took out the crank and rod...
the crank and rod are pressed assemblys..they will need to be rebuilt or replaced .. t
he cyilinder will have to be inspected by a shop to verify its reuse as an over bore.. ( may need a new sleeve to be reusable) ..
youll need and upper engine set (pistons rings ,pins, and bearings..)
also a gasket and seal set..
a head may be in order too, if damaged or at least a chamber cut and mill to bring it back smooth..

shop around and see what you can buy a reman for, if you do not wish to undertake this rebuild...might be alot cheaper in the long run..

How much roughly would this type of rebuild run and is it worth it or should i look for a used engine?

Are SBT rebuilds pretty good quality engines?

Some people hate them, while others praise them. I have no personal experience, so I can't help you there.

In my opinion, I would not buy a used engine. Because you have no idea what shape it will be in. Even a compression test can sometimes give false impressions.

At least with a SBT engine, you KNOW that a reputable company has built the engine to spec. Just be sure once you get the new motor installed, everything else is working perfectly (ie fuel system, ignition system, oil injection etc)

now that I think about it, now would be the perfect time to get the 1100 motor. It should bolt right up, many people have done it before on this forum.

No personal experience here either but from what I've heard, not really. It you have any mechanical ability, you'd be better off building an engine yourself, using good quality components/gaskets.
