2002 virage 800 dies after riding 30 minutes or so

just bought this ski...runs great for 30 minutes to an hour. then dies, wont restart for a couple of hours. then cranks and runs good for another 30 minutes or so. any help would be greatly appreciated. it is fuel injected 800 2 cyl. by the time i load it up at the lake for no start and get back to the shop it cranks right up. im going to take my fuel pressure gauge and dvom to the lake this weekend with me. thanks in advance

I have a 2004 Freedom 700 that exhibited the same issue. It would run fine for about 10 minutes and then exhibit overheat symptoms. After sitting for 15-20 minutes to cool down, the ski ran fine again for 10 minutes - this cycle would repeat. After tracing through the system for heat issues, mine turned out to be a faulty stator. The ignition system can exhibit these symptoms (coil, hall effect magnets etc.). There are some threads on here that discuss the correct procedure for ohming out these parts to narrow it down.

Obviously your issue could be totally different - such as fuel vacuum issues - When it shuts down, open the fuel cap and listen for rush of air (vacuum).

Just sharing my latest experience - might be worth checking.

Not sure, I don't have injection on my ski. I will let someone more knowledgeable on the topic address it. But If it is used to cool the unit and it was blocked, it could have been going into thermal shutdown and maybe starving fuel with no EMM function- just my complete inexperienced guess.

Yes, that is likely your problem. Once the EMM gets too hot it will shut down.
