I'm not sure if it has a thermostat in it but that my be the cause. You are flushing cold water through the system and there is not enough heat to open it.

Don't they have a debris strainer somewhere on the cooling line? Maybe it is clogged? A friend had a 98 TS that had the strainer stock and it clogged up and did the same thing.

Yes, I would check the pump strainer and the waterline where it goes from the transom to the motor. Not sure if the head or block is cooled first. follow all the cooling lines where they goto the pump. Remove them one by one and Blow compressed air thru them. Blow from the motor back to the pump also.

You may also have a possibly plugged water filter.

When you look at the pump, check part #1 also.
Its a little disk strainer. It strains the larger stuff before it goes to the water filter.

Here is the 1997 Daytona 770 cooling diagram

Here is the one for the Daytona 1000

No, I would assume 3/8 to 1/2 "......as a guess.

Also, if it is the 770 model, I would check those little T-fittings to see if they aren't blocked/plugged.

    Something is not flowing correctly....

Are you sure water if flowing out of the pump and/or the waterbox under a flush ?
