False info: Yamaha finally fixes the clutch issue the gen 3 clutch is here

thats right the clutch issue is finally sorted.
i was speaking to a guy regarding my clutch issues and he said to me look at this, he had a new gen 3 clutch system, apparently yamaha have now remidied the slipping, and the broken teeth.
im not going to go right into what he said but i held the new clutch in my hands.
the new clutch comes complete with clutch unit, idle gear, and the sleves and shafts.

the new clutch has been forged to stop the teeth breaking.

whats even better aparently yamaha are going to do a warranty.

my ski is 2008 and is getting done under extended warranty, so it looks like yamaha have acnowledged the fault and are going to put things right.

all i can say is look out seapoo yamaha is the ski of choice

Corky that's pretty amazing Yamaha is doing that, considering your level of mods and pushing almost 80 mph.
Hope you get it sorted out, keep us posted!

Interesting. I think a "field test" will ultimatley be the deciding factor (by the Green Hulk faithful). It is this very part that has kept me away from the SHO series . . . for me, the whole clutch system just needs to be more reliable overall for me to have a SHO. I assume the new clutch will be standard on the 2012 model line? And it's great that it will retro fit older SHO's. Nice touch Yamaha!

When you say gen 3, do you mean the clutches off the newest 2012 Yamahas ?

Agreed! That would a great way for Yamaha to rectify this issue.
Any idea of how long until these are available Corky?

I wanna see this thing. See what all they may have done different with the clutch itself.

my ski is stock standard, my sig should have been updated months ago, i went back to stock because of this issue, i will be modding again once ive got the new clutch in.
one thing i will say is i spoke to yamaha direct and they said nothing else would be under warranty, just the clutch itself wich is fair enough.

as far as im aware there is no recall but if your current clutch fails it will be replaced, all new 2011 model skis that have just rolled off the production line have the gen 3 installed.

the original clutch (2008-2010) failed due to the size internally
the update failed and broke teeth off due to the metal not being forged and they rushed them out due to the original failiures.
the new clutch is now forged and apparently "the one" hence yamaha holding their name to it.
