1998-Kawa 900 stx - New starter and bendix still won't turn the fly wheel what next?
Ski worked fine last year. Thought it was the starter replaced it....not the fix. Removed bendix, it was frozen, replaced it...stll won't engage the flywheel. Also, do you really have to take the entire engine out to get to the bendix, crazy!! Thanks

Yep, you have to remove the stator cover and flywheel to get the starter drive off. It might be possible to do it with the engine in the hull, I doubt that you could get the O-ring back on the stator cover while in the hull.

I realize this post is old, but I have a 96 zxi 1100. Just replaced the bendix but the motor still does not turn over. It did turn over with the motor on the bench when I jumped the battery directly to the starter. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Sounds like the jet pump is frozen. This happens when corrosion forms between the housing and liner, which pushes the liner into the impeller.
