    IC...or not to IC

    that's the next question....heh.

Summertime heat is killin me. Air volume being needed for more power....what if I pulled the stock IC....ran w/o it?

Would my set-up using a rear air intake garner me any more power with an open intake manifold vs cooler air but less volume?

Get rid of the stock IC.....run an external IC. JPT7779 did this on his 2005 GTX/SC (no IC)....he uses an 08 RXT-X IC & stock bracket. His 61-62mph GTX is now a 66+mph ski with a Solas 12.5/18.

Yeah, I know a better IC would be a plus....but would removing the stocker and going w/o in this heat be of any benefit?

...considering I run a rear air intake

Removing the stock IC to no IC would be detrimental to performance......its the different between a non intercooled GTX/SC to your RXT (partly).

Even though the stock IC is always labeled "restrictive" it is definitely a step above having no intercooler at all. The rear air intake might pull cool air, but that air is going to heat up once it hits the charger regardless of where it comes from.

Hmm....I just don't know.....the restrictive oem air plus an oem IC...vs rear air and no IC.

the 215 vs 185 comparison would hold if they were using the same intake.

Here's the best way I can think to put it. The oem IC is acting as a heat exchanger. The term "restrictive" is relative. Yes, it's more restrictive than having a better option. No, it's not more restrictive than having no IC at all. Just my .02

how can the OEM IC be equally as restrictive as no IC at all?
