Not impressed with my extended pump.

I took out the ski for the first time this year. I lost top speed by about 10 mph or so and it constantly cavitated. There were little ripples on the lake and at that it kept taking on air in the pump. Acceleration was noticably slower I still have to replace a worn impeller. If I hit a ripple or got to top speed, there was intermitent driveshaft vibration that stopped when I let off the throttle and got back on it. I did put the rubber thingies on each end of the shaft but can't tell if it didn't fall out on the install.

You could be getting a air leak, ride plate siliconed?

A worn out impeller will make it lose a lot of thrust. What impeller are you using?

I believe it to be stock with about 30 thou play. I ordered one before to change out with the pump but I got the 146mm with out knowing, so I stuck the old one back on for now.

    Get a good impeller.

Make sure the driveshaft is not bent or out of round.

    Check your pump bearings

Make sure the pump is sealed to the shoe really well with the LARGE O ring

The extended pump is always faster. You have other issues to fix.

I'm assuming the driveshafts all good as it was from zig. As for the large o-ring you speak of, is that the one that goes between the pump and the hull? if so it's there and as well as both bumpers at the end of the driveshaft and the o-ring that goes inside the impeller are all there. I will change out the bearings as they're cheap, i think they're ok.

The pump is angled up but theres not much of a jet spray, most likely due to the lack of propulsion cause of the worn impeller.
