    trim system question

on my 99 slx i am down to fixing the small thing now that its running. i noticed that the trim was not functioning. i did the test that the manuel describes (hooking a jumper wires straight to the motor) and the motor does function properly but it doesnt when u use the switch on the handle bar. now i did not have my mfd plugged in as i am trying to dry it out cause it foggy, would that make a differance or could the switch be faulty?

Are you running the engine while making your test? You won't get 12+ volts to the trim system until the engine runs and the regulator switches the voltage on.
I think you can also just press the bilge switch and it should trip the power to the trim system, give it a try??
