'99 XPL wont turn over (WITH VIDEO and MORE INFO)

Having an issue with my '99 XPL

Its been laid up for past 2 months and last time I used it the starter/solenoids in the front electircal box were playing up.... Basically what was happening is I'd press start and nothign would happen but the solenoid in the front box would "Click Click Click".... Anyway fiddled around in the compartment and it went away so I kept riding and then thought nothing of it. Went to start it today for first time in two months and no love just clicks away.

Will put a youtube video up when Im home from uni.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

    Unhappy well well.......

Raced home uni today from a few pointless lectures as I was more involved in texting surfNturf to try and get my head around what to check to get this thing started....

    Cleaned up the following:
    + and - @ battery
    + @ Starter
2 +'s @ front electrical box on either side of solenoid

Checked battery voltage when trying to start and its fine. Main earth was tight on the crank case too.

Tried to start nothing but clicking.

Jumped the solenoid nothing but clicking.

Removed pump in case it was stuck and locking motor nothing but clicking.

Pulled plugs and tried to turn drive shaft with a spare impeller I had lying around and I cant move it in either direction AT ALL.... How much force should this take with no plugs in?!?!

I REALLY hope the engine isnt locked.... It had a full rebuild not long ago and I flush it, rev it off the hose to get all water out of water box and fogg it after every trip I cant think of any time it would have injested water in my last outing either

Heres the video of it trying to start:

Anyone want to share there 2cents? SurfNturf and I are going to have a look see tomorrow with any luck

its definitively no locked up the stater is not even turning. If you have a volt meter, you need to see if the Positive lead going to the starter. and on the other end of the voltmeter, put it to the negative, then press the start button, you should see 12 vlts. if you dont see any, then the starter solenoid is bad.

You can actually buy a universal solenoid, I done it in the past, they are like 10 dollars.

Which negative any? can i just put it on a metalic bolt on the engine?

How can you tell its "deff not locked up? but that is what i want to hear as i have NFI (no F*@*@ idea) how and why it would be locked up...

the starter is not even turning, trust me, I worked on many skis, yes you can use any ground but preferably the negative on the battery.

if you are getting 12 volts on the line that feeds the starter and the negative then your next option is to inspect the stater, the brushes inside might be wore out, or the starter is shorted or possibly seized/rusted.

Ok so with volt meter on battery negative and positive lead going to starter hit start and im only seeing .5v for a split second.

I've tried jumping across the solenoid with a screwdriver and all it does is spark and it tries to stick the screw driver to the terminals but still doesnt turn over?

I would try a starter solenoid first.
