Help and Advice needed on "new" 785 Pro
Ok-so I posted my thread about the pro I just bought. Finally had time to look it over and have a few questions about some things.
Has 180psi in each cyl-what octane will I need to run in this motor?
Im posting several pics of parts I have questions on
Blue wire in e box unpluged-should it be plugged in?
Fuse missing in e box-should it be there
Hose unplugged at transom-where does it go?
Fiberglass "intake?" under hood-what the ??? is it? Who made it?
Anyone know what rideplate this is-and sponsons?
Are these stock carbs? I never knew polaris to put mikunis on there motors? They have never had a choke shaft in them-not machined for one at all. Specs are as follows
mains on all 3 110
pilots on all 3 120
needles and seats on all 3 2.0
high speed screws on all 3 1 1/4 out
low speeds varied widely pto 3 turns out center 4.5 turns out mag 2.5 turns out
any and all help appreciated.

Hot Seat Rideplate
Hot Seat Sponsons
Fiberglass Intake. (The stock hood has an inner shell that is removed. The storage bucket is then removed and replaced with that air intake piece you have. It turns the stock arrangement into an actual "flow-through" design feeding air into the engine bay. The Volcano on top is to help prevent water intrusion)
The unhooked hose is where all your engine water is supposed to exit, through that vertical fitting right next to it. It looks as though they were using it for a flush point for the flush kit. If it was for flushing only, why all the permanent looking hose clamps? Don't know, but typically that hose would go to the fitting right next to it.
Carbs look like modified Mikunis. Polaris used Mikunis on their Fuji motors..... the "blue" engines and the Pro 785"s.
180#'s cranking on the guage means race fuel on the lake.
I'll let the gurus attack the electrical questions.

The jetting is WAY off ,the carbs are somekind of aftermarket carbs need more pics to be able to tell and post a pic of the flame arrestor ans Motor too .
The blue wire is from the oil tank and like Art said above thats the old water exit where there's no hose ,the fuse is for the MFD is there one still on the ski ??? if so put a 1/4 anp fuse in there from Radio Shack
and like i said post some Motor pics please
Looks like a great Find !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok-just cranked the 785-sounds great-going to finish a few things and take it out for some carb tuning tomorrow if I get time. Removed the entire fuel system and replaced all lines-built carbs- hooked up all water hoses and checked all fittings and connections-oil pump was blocked off so i took out the oil tank. MFD worked for a few seconds then quit-imagine it blew a fuse -it worked fine until i started the ski then it blew fuse-any ideas? It flashed a few times then went blank.

make sure you run 110 octane in that ski or you will burn it up your jetting is WAY lean the adjusters do nothing after 1 1/2 turns out so your going to have to rejet or hope he was running it way rich but i bet not Be Careful
and with that much compression you need that much octane to be safe anyways

Im running 110-I have fuel for my gpr1500 and used 5 gallons of it. I set all lows at 1 1/4 for a starting point. The plugs and piston wash looked good in it. For some reason the ski was partially dissasembled-just small crazy stuff randomly unhooked??? Im headed to the shop to finish up some things and pull the e box apart and check it over real close-trying to figure out the blown fuse problem. Also- putting new battery in-had a gel cell for my gpr and its gone bad on the shelf and is showing open cell when i charge it, going to run to my store and get a new gel for it this morning and put it in, and grips-this has hand gaurds on it-like bark busters for a dirtbike-never seen them on a ski before.

Im going to get the outside cleaned up today and ill post pics of it-as well as steal a hood seal off one of my part outs and cut down the air inlet-volcanoo thing to fit better and put some nutzerts in to screw it in with.
