Going Turbo on a 2011 FZS Question

Hello All, I have been browsing this forum for months. I have gained an incredible amount of knowledge reading through countless forum pages! Thank you!

I will be installing a turbo on my 2011 FZS in the next week or so. I have a concern in that I was planning on removing the supercharger clutch from the oil pump drive gear, and reinstalling just the oil pump drive gear.

However, it seems that the 2011 clutch is one piece and cannot be taken apart. Will it be ok to leave the clutch in? I have tried searching and cannot find this information anywhere.

I am concerned in that I plan to turn this motor 9200-9400 rpm in the future and do not know if the lack of a "load" from the supercharger will cause any issues with either vibration or the possibility of the one way bearing grenading.

    Thank you,
    Joe

    Thanks for the reply Richie,

It doesn't seem the 2011 Clutch comes apart from the oil gear. It is shown as one piece on the microfiche, unlike the 2008-2010 which is shown in the individual pieces.
Am I incorrect? I have never held a 2011 clutch, only the older ones. Are you saying that the 2011 clutch can come apart just like the older ones?

    Thanks!

The main thing you want to remove is the idler gear and of course the supercharger. Then that area would need to be blocked off. The rest can stay.

Oh forgot to add, the main reason the clutch stays gear stays in is to spin your oil pump.

Yeah, I'm obviously removing the idler, supercharger, and blocking it off. I was just concerned with the clutch causing problems since it has no load. I wasn't sure if it would cause any issues. I wanted to remove the one way and just leave the oil pump drive gear, which can be done on the older clutches. However, after looking at the microfiche it looked as if the 2011 Clutch is non serviceable and would need to be replaced entirely.

So I take it that leaving the clutch on the oil pump drive gear will not cause any issues.

    Thanks!

Edit: From my understanding :The one way / clutch doesn't spin the oil pump. The center oil pump gear does. The outer "clutch" can be removed on the older models. I wish I new how to post a pic of the microfiche.

That sounds like a great idea. Has this been done before? I would like to confirm that the VXR oil gear is the same except for the clutch...

    Thanks!
