The riva grate is your fastest grate. Removing the opas will help A LOT with handling. It will feel like you lost 100 lbs off of the back. The general consensus is the SFR ride plate mod is the best mod for handling, cornering, turning etc. I just posted a thread in the performance section regarding Jim's ride plate mod and SFR's. It seems that the SFR is the better grate for the above listed things you want to accomplish. I would eventually go with the RE blockoff's well the Fizzle one's. They are identical to the RE's. They can be found here ---> http://www.4-tecperformance.com/inde...roducts_id=352

As far as sponson setups go, I cannot help you. I chose to stay with the OEM sponsons.

SFR plate, R&D intake grate/girdle kit, riva sponsons in the "all the way down" position for handling the chop but So-So in turns & a 3 blade.. Never had a dull moment!

The more Boost & rpm's the better...

He is also wanting speed too. Took the RD grate off and gained almost 2 mph.

I second the girdle and pump shoe insert. It will save your ski.

The riva grate i think hooks just about as good as the r&d on the river where I ride. Do the riva sponson scub off speed in the down position?

No speed scrub in the down position. You'll feel it stick to the water much better & tracking is way better too. The riva grate will eventually crack so just be aware of that & check it often.

Get the R&D girdle for the riva grate, or countersink two additional stainless steel bolts through the riva grate and into the ride plate to be sure it never breaks free from the sole metal to metal bolt in the center and pulls the brass pump shoe inserts out, this is often how the riva grates break when this happens.
