97 sltx 1050 carb problems
i have a 97 sltx 1050 i just got runnning and when i got it on the water its hard to start and idles low around 800 rpms for about 10 sec then dies but starts back up with a tiny hit of the gas! when i get it started up if i hold the gas a lil bit its fine! so i figured i need to set the base idle. nowe my question is do any of you guys have a tips or trick on setting the base idle?

According to the manual the idle should be 1350 +/- 50 when the ski is in the water. If you don't have it in the water you should set the idle around 1800-1900 rpm and go from there. The engine has to be warmed up and off choke.

The 98 and newer 3 cyl's came with 40mm carbs that will pretty much bolt on,the jetting will be different form year to year. I have a set of 40's-not sure if I have all the jets to work on your 1050.
