Just heard Nicolas Rius has broken some ribs due to an intake grate failiure!
Yep-sounds like Nicolas bailed at 90mph on a turbo VXR because of a intake grate failure!
Broken ribs, but he's home form hospital!
Hope he's ok, and speedy recovery!

Jerry , take note! Do the rear end mate on your turbo monster.

Yep, I got a call yesterday when this happened.
I'm about to install a turbo on my VXR so this news scares the hell out of me. Riva will be making a stainless steel grate for the VXR. Until that's released I think I'm going to have one made out of billet.

I hate reading about accidents like this. All the best to Nicolas on a speedy recovery.

I saw where Rius posted this over on Facebook. Anybody know what intake grate he was using (that failed)? 90 mph is awfully fast on a VXR; sheesh. Sounds like he will be ok so I am thankful for that.

I hope Nicholas is alright. I saw this boat just last week as they were finishing it up-very nice workmanship.
The water was like glass yesterday, temp was 110deg and the humidity was 30%-so, not a bad speed considering the air density.
Very scary. Rius could have been killed. And, Nicholas is a good rider, and used to going those kinds of speeds.
