    4-Tech oil change

Hi folks, first time on the forum.

A couple of questions regarding the winter storage of my two 09 GTI 130's

    a) Should I change the oil before storing or when I take them out of hibernation?
    b) When warming up the engine during the oil change, how long can I safely let the ski idle without water through the pump? As this is a closed loop cooling system I assume engine temp concern should not be an issue?

    Thanks,

    Jim NL Canada

my opinions may be challanged..but for what it's worth.

change the oil at end of season..if you are a true fanatic..change it after your first outing the following season also.

engine temp won't be a concern..however the ,melting exhaust system might catch your attention, so will the overheat alarm ( btw your high exaust temp is recorded for eventual use by the dealer to not do a warranty ob)

couple of seconds off hose max..if you are changing your own oil, get used to the idea that water is part of the process.

In my case 2000 gallons of oily water is part of all my processes

    welcome to gh btw.

one other thing...you can generally find out all you need to know on mundane subjects like winterizing, oil changes, common gripes, props and wear rings etc by searching.

Change the oil now. Then the oil is fresh for the next season.

Hooked up to the hose, no more than 5 minutes or you will damage your carbon seal.

    Thanks guys for the advice.
As a followup can you tell me if there is a dedicated hookup point for a garden hose to cool the exhaust when hanging oil?

    Thanks

    Jim
