    MFD Questions

Repaired 2 Dim MFDs today and tested them out, the repair/digits where fine the question I have is the harness I have does not have TRIM im working on getting one with trim, i tested them with just the 12V and ground connected, one of them has the trim bars lit up from 0 to -5 the other has NO trim bars lit up, is this due to no trim wires being connected or do the MFD's have problem? even on initial startup when the gas gauge oil and everything is on with red light the Trim display is not there? do the wires need to be connected and the MFD's reset in order for these to work?

Trim indicator shouldn't be lit at all. Not until it sees some activity from the switch.

What are the part #'s on the back ?
The SLT's did not have trim, not sure if their MFD had the needed stuff inside.
The early 96-97 SLT MFD's were the same part # as for a SL .

You might have to cycle the trim both ways to read.

    Correct,the MFD responds to the + & - sent to the trim motor,reverse + & - for other direction.

then is one of them broken because it lights up from 0 to -5 all the tiem whenever 12V is going to it, or does it just need to be calibrated?

I believe the 252 will not show trim until you actually try to use the trim. I had this same question on mine, but it worked when I ran the trim motor
