Question 1999 gp 1200 hard start

hi when i try to cold start my gp 1200 it takes forever with choke.
ok install primer bulb everybody says,
when i start and stop in the water no problems,

when i leave the ski sitting on the beach for ten minutes,
it starts and when i half throtlle it it dies, then i have choke it and crank and crank.
once running again no issues ( when i start after ten min and and idle for 3 to 4 mins before half throttle no problems at all)
fuel check valve maybe? how come it looses prime os quickly?

Yeah I think without tank pressure, some of the gas drains back into the tank, which would make it hard to start. Low compression can make them hard to start also. Have you checked your compression lately?

Stock compression is supposed to be 120 psi.
