Do reed stuffers work ?
If the VFII or VFIII reeds arent in the budget do reed stuffers make a decent alternative ?
Any noticeable increase in acceleration ?

YES, reed stuffers were designed to increase fuel/air velocity through the intake tract, resulting in increased throttle response and acceleration. They increase the carb signal from the reduction of the intake size.Reed Stuffers also help guide/control the incoming mixture from the round profile of the carb throat, to the rectangular profile of the reed cage. The bottom line result of reed stuffers is usually as mentioned above by an improvement in overall acceleration and response.
Also, stuffers generally have no effect on peak rpm.
In my opinion, they are a must.
Now the amount of money you spend on stuffers, you are about 1/3 of the way there for some good VFIII's. And if you add the time for taking it all apart, plus the gasket, you may as well spring for the VF3's.
And with VF3's, you gain RPM's !!!! about 80-110 is the average amongst the users on this forum.

But you do not use stuffers with the VFII or VFIII reeds right ?
For example the PRO-TEC stuffer.

Yes there are stuffers for the V Force cages. Some people use them and some people dont.

I think you can pick up a set of used vf2 for $250... with the work involved installing them it would be worth the wait and just get the reeds! Trust me one thing I have learned is do things ONCE!! you know the reeds are better and at some point your gonna want/get them so just wait till the $$ is there and get em!

If you have a 1200 I have a set of Pro-Tec stuffers I'd sell for $50 and shipping. I ran them until I decided to bite the $500 bullet for the V-Force IIIs. Everything they've said is true - the V-Forces give a great improvement in acceleration and an additional 100+ RPMs for me (that I'd chipped three of the stock reeds probably didn't hurt). The Pro-Tec stuffers offer an improvement in acceleration and throttle response, but no noticable improvement in top end.
