    SHOdude Stage 1 V-Tech Testing...Results

Did some baseline testing today with my 2008 FXSHO in preparation for Jerrys V-Tech Stage 1 ECM reflash.

    Baseline setup is as follows.

    Ski:
    08 FXSHO 195.0 Hours
    Riva Air Intake
    Foam Inserts Removed
    Stock Intercooler
    Stock Boost
    Intake Manifold Ribbon Removed
    Riva Free Flow Exhaust
Riva Sponsons Set in Middle Position
    Riva Intake Grate
    305coco Tunnel Reinforcement
    Stock Prop
    Stock Nozzle
    Stock Steering Nozzle
Jim's Top Secret Custom Highly Modified Stock Ride Plate
Custom Bitchin Stitchin Riva Seat Cover
A few scratches on the hull

    Today's testing...

    Weather condiitons:
    At 11:00 am.
    Elevation: 39 feet
    Temperature 84 degrees
    Humidity 66%
    Dewpoint 72 degrees
    Barometric Pressure 30.06
Wind E to SE at 3-6 mph, light ripple on river

    Test track:
Kissimmee River, water temp high 80's to low 90's

I was running with full tank of gas, ran a 5 mile twistie loop to warm up engine before testing, all of my testing was with me and my 210 fat ass sitting up on the seat, trim was 1 up from neutral.

My boost guage was not working, but most of us know what stock boost is on a stock ski. I have shipped my boost guage to Dynotune for replacement and will have boost data after reflash.

I did 2 types of runs. One run was a 1 mile run up/down the main river channel. Another set of runs was a 1/4 mile run from the boat ramp to the main river channel. River current running north to south (if there was any current). However, which was interesting, was I had better speeds running against current and with the little bit of wind.

    1 mile run results:
Running south 7450 rpms, speed 65.3
Running north 7440 rpms, speed 65.9
Running south 7440 rpms, speed 64.7
Running north 7440 rpms, speed 65.5
Running south 7440 rpms, speed 64.7

    1/4 mile results:

Running south 7420 rpms, speed 64.5
Running north 7440 rpms, speed 65.0
Running south 7420 rpms, speed 64.6
Running north 7400 rpms, speed 65.3
Running south 7360 rpms, speed 64.3

It took me approximately 1 hour to do all the testing and weather conditions were pretty much the same.

Tomorrow I will be sending my ECU to Jerry for the V-Tech reflash.

    Stay tuned...

thanks ross...One thing I can't believe is how I was going faster going upstream with the wind versus going downstream against the wind...weird.

Ski may look slow, but look at the rpms...

Your speeds seem a little slow... especially with that moded plate. What were your top speeds without Jim's plate mods?

Because the air gets up under the ski giving it more lift!

BTW - Who wrote that initial post for you? I know it wasnt you because you dont even know what day it is let alone the air quality.

    Looking forward to the results.

I thought the same thing, but look at my RPM's, plus full tank of gas, sitting up on seat and I am about 215 pounds

    SHOdude,
Is this the same SHO you purchased from Jerry?
I bet the stock prop has been tweeked to keep it off the rev limiter when he was modifying it... and it was making more hp with more aftermarket parts. I've been looking for his old FX SHO thread from back in 2008-09 to see what mods he performed, but haven't found it.
