Angry Secret to splitting the crankcase

Just picked up an 04 GTX non SC 4 tec. Has a broken timing chain +++++ so the silliest question I will probably ever ask is, what is the secret to splitting the crankcase?
Do the big torx screws in the bottom of the case need to come out to access other fasteners? This thing is driving me nuts.
    Please help.

    :LMAO:

You might actually need to bump it with a small sledge. The casings seize and are hard to split. Go easy though. Don't go all John Wayne on it though....

If you must beat it, be sure and use a 21st century striking instrument.
    (i.e. Dead Blow Hammer)

    Hi
    I have just done it
You have to undo the caps with the torx socket
The bollts underneath need to be done with a rattle gun. If you are not careful and try it by hand you will damage the bolt heads. (I did) then you will hate life
These things hold the crank and balancer shaft in place

    Good luck

If the timing chain broke remove the pistons to see that the top ring still floats and is not pinched under the valve relief......

    Sorry

That's what we call it in Australia.

The correct term is impact wrench
