    exhaust mods

looking for a loud, good sounding, cheap exhaust note. its already loud with the riva power filters, and maybe a d plate. havent had the courage to try and take apart the exhaust yet to see.(80 hrs). i have heard or ordering free flow riva, then cutting stock water box, and adding pro tec pipe. i can do the box myself, riva free flow is 70.00, and hopefully find a used pipe for 2-300. any other ideas to get a loud ski on the cheap without killing hp? any help is positive and appreciated

What's the blue hose I see every once in a while used for a free flow. Can I fit on my 2001 1200r with stock box etc.

It will be faster with the stock exhaust with just a d-plate.

If you just want louder, then add the free flow tube and call it good. It should have a little better response, but lose some rpm on top. Yes the blue hose works with the stock water box.

If you want to hear the engine more and get more air to it, make some extra air holes. Do a search on this forum. But you can add some under the cowls or in the front hatch.

well today i drilled holes into my front bucket and cowl to get more air into the ski. also pitched the elephant ears while i was messing around. noticed the ski has the riva power filters, riva d plate sensor, d plate already installed. i just ordered the riva free flow kit to make more sound. its already got a decent drone/hum to it at low rpms due to the filters and d plate. if the free flow doesnt suit my needs i will get a tdr spray box to make it nice and loud.

If you want a little more sound with the FF, make some vents in you seat like Water Woody did here:

Then relocate the battery & cut out the OEM batt box like I did. With the vents in my race seat it sounds kick-ass & also gives you quick access to the rear of the hull.

Not sure. Use the search feature & you'll find lots of different setups for seat vents. I think Pale rider used threaded PVC so he could plug them for offshore riding, & I've seen others use flo-rite vents. Lots of different ways to do it.
