ID:	251281hey guys whats going on planning on a complete rebuild the ski is almost all the way torn down just a few parts sitting in the hull. i plan on sending the crank and jugs to sharps in a week or so (guess he is on vac) need some imput on what to do with the rest of the ski other than the motor like hoses the proper way to run the water will have a ada head, i want to put another set of pissers i added all the photos then it wouldnt let me type on top and im late to work!!!!!!!!! 30 min drive i have 9 to make it on time. ohh well okay so i need motivation plan on getting some expanding foam from the my friend at the boat shop and plan on making a new seal for the pipes on the back side, i might wash ski super good then go take it to have white or gray bedliner sprayed in, or to just clean and sand it out and spray garage floor coating on it or maybe even a gelcoat i have a crack in the rear side of ski below the back seat caused by the footwells not having support plan on using some fiberglass on the inside and fixing the footwell supports i know the foam i used on my boat has alot of strength but it needs to be right not doing anyshort cuts,

I NEED IMPUT ON THIS BIG TIME HAS ANYONE EVER PUT A TOW HOOK ON THE 785 PRO IM REAL GOOD WITH FIBERGLASS I PLANED ON ADDING 3 OR 4 LAYERS OF FIBERGLASS ON THE BACK SIDE AND A PIECE OF WOOD THAT FITS PERFECTLY ON THE BACK IM NOT AFFRAID OF THE EXTRA 5 POUNDS JUST WANT TO HAVE SOME FUN YES I KNOW I NEED A LONG ROPE LOL
plan on powder coating the pipes i havent picked a color.

ohh and anyone have a moon key or woodruff key for the crank stupid people at work threw it away i know i can proballly get one local in dallas but dont want to risk not being the corect one

i was in a hurry trying to get to work so i plan on adding more stuff to this latter and maybe fixing all the pictures to put them in order

Looks like you got yourself some work there

I suggest that you start building an inventory of everything you are going to need. You will need to assess this against your budget so you know exactly what you are up for. Based on your pics looks like you need to get your cylinders re-nicd, top end kit, powervalves don't look real good, difficult to see the head but you may need that as well and we haven't looked at the crank yet. It may in the end work out cheaper to get a good running engine. You can get a lot of parts right here once you determine what you need post it up and you will get some responses. The stator you can test on the bench, there is a test procedure with correct tolerances on the site if you search for it.

DO NOT TOW with a PRO 785!!!!!!!

It's a purpose built single seater race ski, not meant for pulling heavy loads.

    YOU WILL BURN IT UP!!!!!!

ok no towing lol that means i dont have to buy more fiberglass stuff should i fibergalss the footwell supports in or use well i saw someone use lexan does the footwell need to be 100% rigid or flex it has a bunch like alot alot of play now hince the crack in rear of ski (it lets water in slow)

i plan on dropping almost 2 grand just rough numbers anyone got a running motor up for sale?

i have ada racing head being made or at least the domes are being made, i plan on being 100% fresh when it goes back in the bearings on the crank are just a lil bad and actually mean a small amount the pistons are all trash the reeds are all trash the cyls are all three trashed and i think the prop and wear ring need to be replaced the edges of prop looked like they got hot from air. the valves can just be cleaned right?

i know this is going to be exspensive who cares

Yeah you can ride with a passenger, but it won't be much fun for you. The SL is technically a 2 seater but get a couple of people on it and things get really tricky. It's a difficult balancing act to say the least on take off, once you are up on a plane it's quite stable on calm waters. I recall doing an island crossing on my SL900 with a passenger, about 350lbs combined weight with never ending 4 footers rolling in. I can tell you that was the most difficult (and wetest) ride I ever did.

There are some good parts sources like John Zigler, watercraft superstore, atlantic jet sports that can hook you up with most of what you need. You can also put out an ad in the classifieds this forum has enough combined parts to put Polaris back into production
