What do you guys think of this 95 xp800

What do you guys think? It sounds like he will deliver it to me. Do I really want to stick a new motor into a machine this old? Trim, gauges, and everything else works. Sorry don't know compression numbers at this time.

Thats a hell of a find. You might want to act on this fast.

Any thoughts as to what the rattle is? I would hope for pump bearings or bad top end, that way I could fix for cheap and get a few hours out of it before the crank would need to be redone. Motor being 12 years old must have been updated to the 787 motor I'm guessing.

Thats a rare ski. Thats a limited edition and it has the 110 hp 782cc (800) rave valve motor.
This ski posted is the first year for the 782cc motor, race bred/inspired.

The regular (white and yellow) 1995 XP had the 718cc (720) 85hp motor.

In 1996, all XP's came with the 110hp rave valve 800 class motor

Yeah, that's my understanding. I hear only around 500 of the 95xp800 were made. I've read up on some of the differences like the humped seat, carrier bearing seal, longer drive shaft and 3" extension on the pump. I'm sure I'm missing some other stuff. The problem is the ski is 150 miles away, so I'm really buying something that is unknown.

150 miles ain't far. 2.5-3 hour trip, one day run. I've driven 250 (Houston to Dallas) for skis to buy/sell, in one day.

And for the price you are mentioning, its well worth it to atleast to go see it. Negotiations tend to be more apt when face to face, typically in the buyers favor knowing you drove the distance.

You could part that thing out as it sits and have way more than $200

150 miles is nothing. For $200 as long as the hull is not cracked it's worth it all day long.

It would be a tragedy to part out a 1995 XP800. Fix it, polish it up. and keep it as a collector machine.

I will come pick it up for $500...if not DONT YOU DARE part that perfect boat out. there were only 500 made and there are some out there that are even more rare that have a 785 sticker where the 800 is and I believe that those even had slightly different jugs on the motor too...I think that they had a slightly shorter stroke? Most that I have seen are trashed beyond belief this is a near mint

Well the guy has agreed to sell it me for $200 delivered to my front door. I should be getting it this weekend. I have a feeling that the rattling that he's referring to is more of a knock and the crank is bad. Not sure what else it could be from his description. He said it still turns over, but won't start. Can't wait to dig into it and see whats up with this thing.
