Drive shaft bearing to carbon bush
Ok i have had it ...
I have been running a Les Cooke Drive shaft bearing and get about 10-15 hrs of riding before it starts to fail ...Sunk ski twice and over it ...
Iam running a stage 3 system with XXX SC on a RXP 07...
I have gone back to the Carbon bush system but only get 5 hrs before bush flogs out ...How can i get the carbon system to last ???
Every thing is aligned ...

Check the front to back alignment. If the engine is not in the proper place, you get failures repeatedly. Top to bottom and side to side could be in line but you are either too far forward or back. I'm betting too far back. Ask Breon, he just had this issue.

Can it be hp related ...More hp = shorter life ?
Iam going to install a new set up and double check everything ...

1)You are either out of alignment (side-to-side or up and down) or the engine is set too far back towards the pump. Bad motor mounts will cause the engine to go out of alignment under load, too.
2) Bad pump bearing. Does your wear ring wear evenly or is it wearing in one spot only?
3) Bent driveshaft
4) the little rubber cushion on the PTO side of the driveshaft is not oriented properly and could be laying sideways instead of standing straight up. This will effectively have the driveshaft stick out too far towards the pump which would add extra tension on the bellows and carbon seal
5) pump shoe is misaligned to the hull. Some have been proven to be way off from the factory.
You say the carbon ring fails quickly, to me, that says too much tension. If it just leaked a little than I would say you don't have enough tension. Is your bellows boot very difficult to slide back to expose the C clip? A bellow boot will only make thing worse it you already have too much tension

slasher. the purple 90mph RXP that my ski is based on runs a carbon seal and has done for over 50hrs.. so in dont think HP is a factor.. it snapped the driveshaft but so far no issues with the carbon seal after it sunk with an aftermarket one...
that thing is developing some serious power for a rec riding boat... you spoken to sniper??

Yep Sniper had the same problem, hence why He and Dan went to their own system....
50hrs ...Dam ...e-mail me his number ....
