Thread: GPS technology

with all the GPS technology out there, I'm thinking it would be cool for the GPS companies to start incorporating some type of accelleration info into their GPS. like 0-30, 0-50, 1/4 mi times etc. Maybe cool for the Pwc'er or your car modder. I know that Idling(we can't truly start from zero) might pose a little problem, but there can be some sort of average built in before someone starts to exceed that starts the clock. Might be cool also to have a time it took to get to the max speed on there as well. It would give more *real world* info over seat of your pants on how well one prop accellerates, not just top speed that we have now on our GPS's. It would close the gap on radars. Unless GPS is a little slow calculating accelleration. I got me an Etrex yesterday. With a $20 off coupon was $88 with tax! Now i need a handlebar mount that CRAZY posted on Go-Polaris.net and I'm set! Who knows, maybe the GPS technology is there and I'm just not hip to it cuz all I can afford right now is this one! LOL

The Yami guys were using a Garmin Forerunner 201 last weekend.
Very small and has a wrist strap that fits nicely around the bar pad.
Between $80 and $130.

Velcro is way cheaper!!

$10 not bad. Don't trust velcro. There's like a real good velcro they sell at Radio Shack that I have tried before, but mounting on the handlebar has it's advantage of being able to look at it. Nothing like knowing it's secured without having a chance of losing it IMO

I was watching speedvision the other day and I saw an awesome commercial.
You plug this thing into your cigarette ligheter and it tells you your horsepower, quarter mile time, and zero to sixty!! I gotta see the commercial again then I can provide more info..

Been using this forerunner 201 for 2+ years now. Works great.
