    Hot weather and top speed

Hello, I'm new to the world of Seadooing. This is an awesome sight and I have looked thru many of the great stickies. I bought a used 2003 GTX 4-Tec SC. I just changed the plastic pump out for an aluminum one, got a Solas 12/20 impeller, new wear ring and a 2 degree pump wedge. Oh, I also put an OPAS block off kit on it. I must thank Lextoy for ALL the help doing all this.

My question is: I hear this ski goes about 60 stock at 7600rpm. With my set up, what do you guys see it doing 62mph)?

I ride at Lake Mojave in Nevada (by Vegas). It's 102 degree temp or more and water temp of 80, I GPS'ed at 59 and it wont go above 7150 (maybe 7200)? Do you guys think this is appropriate? The SC has 175 hours and has not been rebuilt (has metal washer stock). and motor runs great.

    Thanks,
    Rick

+1 -- impeller is too steep-- put the stocker back in

My only real mod is a pump wedge though. Taking of OPAS and an aluminum pump don't increase speed over stock, right? Stock impeller is faster than a 12/20? Why would Solas do that?

Its to much pitch. The motor does not have enough power to turn it any faster.

We where just there ( Lake Mojave ) my TX was turning 8140-8160 (rev limit 8200). I usually only see around 8000 in that kind of heat down here. Gotta be the lower humidity.

Ok. So my next upgrade will be an X SC (I know I have to change the SC gear) and a 4" Kanaflex intake. Will I have enough power then? Or, do I have to buy a new prop?

BTW, I don't think I was getting 7600 ever, even with the stock impellar. Should I put the stock back on? It's not messed up.

Is that a 185 HP ski?

    Ya, it's a 185 ski.

I'm not getting it. Why is the Solas 12/20 impeller causing the speeed loss? It's the one you use on stock ski's. The only mod is a wedge. Is evertone saying the stock impeller is pitch different than a Solas 12/20? What's the 12/20 for then?

Also, I did here the heat is a problem and I could loose rpm's.

Well in the original post I thought it was a 15/20.
