    Heat Exchanger Set Up

I think I am going to move over to the heat exchanger system over winter along with some other mods so I am getting all the parts together now and over the next few months.

Can anybody tell me the spec/ size of heat exchanger I need or a link to somewhere who sells them. I will probably buy the unit from the UK or Europe as it will probably be cheeper so a link with the spec on would be useful if someone has this.

When fitting do you need to put in any kind or pressure reducer and if so again what are you guys using. Not sure yet if I am going to go open loop or go back to a closed loop system.

This is the one I use.. http://www.dudadiesel.com/choose_item.php?id=HX1220

As far as water you want to choke down the water line to the heat X to 3/8" any larger and it over cools the engine.

Do you need to reduce the water pressure from the jet pump. Looking at the heat X it will only run to 150psi which is just over 10bar. I believe the pump pressure is higher than this. As I am running the Riva open loop now I have I believe a 8mm washer in the pump housing now this will restrict the flow but will no lower the pressure.

The outlet of the heat X is dumped overboard so there is almost zero pressure in the heat X. Tee off your in line and reduce to 3/8" feeding the inlet of the Heat X.

Never even crossed my mind about it dumping the the pressure.

I have have just been doing some search around the forum and some people are running 30 plate x-changers. I am running a Riva ECU and I will be fitting a Rude3 over winter so there could be more heat build up than a STD set up.

you bring up an issue I noticed on my ski this past weekend.
    I am running my water.
    Pump - IC - HX - exhaust
While checking oil, etc, i noticed my header and mid pipe was a bit hot to the touch more so then what I think it should be.
Nothing hot enough to throw a temp sensor but just hotter then I would like to see it.
This is with 85+ water and after some wot runs but I would think it would have cooled back down a bit after idling thru the no wake zone back to dock.

I am seriously thinking of rerouting my water and put a T. Send solo line to the exhaust and other line as plumbled to IC then HX then dump over board.

I know most are going to say the header and mid pipe will run hot but I know that in the past i could touch exhaust and not get burned.
