    Ficht - Question about lanyard & voltage on the yellow/black wires

    Edit: Title should be black/yellow wires

    I'm still trying to diagnose a no spark condition on the '02 Virage i. Stator has been replaced and checks out fine. LR module and MFI are both bypassed. It almost has to be either the lanyard or coils.

    In the manual it says:
    Connect lanyard to start / stop
    switch.
    Verify that 12VDC is present on
    BLK/YEL wires. (Disconnect lanyard,
    voltage should drop to zero).

    I read this as you should have +12v on the black/yellow terminal block when the lanyard is attached.


    What I'm seeing is nothing with the lanyard attached and open to ground when I pull the lanyard. This happens both with an LR module installed or with it bypassed.


    Am I interpreting the test incorrectly or have I found my problem?

    Well it looks like the blk/y should show ground with lanyard out or pushing "stop" button.(blh/y still works as the kill signal-it used to ground the CDI-on FI it looks like it shuts off the LR)
    In the tests for the start/stop-lanyard swith-they tell you to ohm test.

    I'm not sure what signal is coming out of the LR on the blk/y (lanyard in). But looks to me blk/y will have ground when pushing stop or lanyard out.

    OK, then that makes sense and that's what I was seeing. Nothing with the lanyard attached, open to grand with the lanyard pulled.

    I wonder what the manual was referring to then?

    Hoping you're just using the wrong word,open = no connection.
    You want to see 0.3-0.4 ohms to ground.
    It's not a bad idea to use a test light to also check for ground with lanyard out (test light will put a load on circuit)

    I'm assuming the manual quote,means the LR has 12v coming out on the blk/y (but not like a high amp power supply) that goes away when grounded by the stop switch,turning off the LR. Probably shuts off the 12 on the orange wires ???

    I'm fairly certain the tether is working as it should. I'm about convinced that the EMM is bad. I pulled it and it will be going to DFI tomorrow. Supposedly the guy I bought it from had it checked out by a shop and was told it was bad....but I questioned the competence of that particular shop so I didn't want to believe it right away.

    I guess I can go back to the '02 TXi that I still can't get running. New stator, DFI confirms the EMM is good but I still can't get high enough voltage to the injectors.

    On your 02 TXI how much voltage are you getting right now?

    I want to say it was in the 12-14v range. Can't remember exactly....been a few weeks since I've messed with it.

    If I prime the throttle body, it will start right up.
