1300R FI boggs but runs on triailer
I bought a gp1300r fuel injected and didn't ride before I bought it..... It will run on the trailer but when I grab the throttle it will bogg then rev up(on trailer), took it to the water and at first it ran great for 50-75yds then died down to 10mpg and would only idle, when I would try to take off it would die. I turned the engine off and then started it back up and it took off and died. Took the ski out and I thought the engine was running lean because it tried to run away I think... put new plugs in the ski and no change... when its out of the water and grab the throttle it hesitates then revs up and when the engine comes back down it almost dies.... any would be greatly appreciated... thanks
oh, i did check the compression before I bought it and it was 135 across

Do you know if it still has the cat in? If it does it probably that its clogged up. My ski had the same symptoms until I took the cat out and put a d-plate.

Could need a gasket kit. How old is the motor. A drip in the motor would cause these results; however, I don't know about the running away. ?????

anyone else? how would it run with water in the fuel or a clogged injector?

The running away part is scary. That's an air/fuel issue. Don't think the cat would be related.

Sorry to hear, that is why everyone should take things to the water and beat the hell out of them before buying anything.
Considering it revs out of the water but not in the water, to me it sounds like it is running on 2 out of 3 cylinders. Causes could be no spark, no compression, broken reed. Back the trailer in the water. Start the ski and pull the first plug wire and see if the ski changes the way it runs. Put it back on and do that for the other two till you find the one that doesn't make a change. Then you know which cylinder is not running.
It could also be the CAT. Those are also notorious for causing bad running skis.
Good luck. Let us know what you find.

Check each cylinder on the side by hand to see if they are on average the same temperature. The odd ball is most likely the culprit. How do the plugs look?

I would pressure test the engine being that your pulling the one pipe to check the cat. Its easy to remove the U pipe and install a pressure test kit. Pressure testing instructions can be found here: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...Stroke-Engines
