Replaced Fuel Sensor On 1100 STX Without Pulling Engine
The service manual says to pull the engine to access the fuel level sensor on the 1100 STX (and others). I was able to do it without removing the engine.
Run the 'Ski or drain some of the fuel out so the weight of the tank is manageable. Remove the front storage compartment.
Remove the oil reservoir by disconnecting the oil supply line and plugging it. Unplug oil level sensor and disconnect straps. Slide the oil reservoir forward and out of the hull.
Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp, remove the hose from the tank. Disconnect straps. Unplug sensor. Inspect fuel hoses and selector cables to make sure you have a couple of inches of slack.
Remove the front seat attach bracket. This will allow the glove box to move downward. Lift and move the fuel tank forward a couple inches and glove box will fall out of the way. You can now access the fuel level sensor and/or fuel pickup through the glove box hole.
The most difficult part of this is reattaching the oil reservoir straps. Don't forget to bleed the oil pump when finished.
