    Loud bang on startup

Hi all new to this forum as I've just encountered a possible problem with my 2005 Sea Doo RXP. It has only 59.6 hours on it.

I bought new back in 05 and have never had a problem with it. I run it almost completely out of gas and engine mist it every year before storing. Being busy this year didn't get a chance to ride but figured I'd better start it.

Added 1 can of sea foam to approx 1/2 gal of gas to clean fuel system and let run for 2 min.

Then added 2 gal of fresh gas... wouldn't start, so i depressed throttle and thats when I heard a loud bang??? sounded like an inner tube exploding

Smoke is coming out from under seat?

Took plastic topper off and dip stick removed spark plugs cleaned with wire brush and carb cleaner dryed out using map gas tourch, coated threads with antioxidant.
Before installing plugs placed my palm over holes and had compression.
Reinstalled plugs and it started up (i shut down after 10 seconds) as i was afraid
something was wrong with all the smoke coming from the engine compartment...

Can see no oil or coolant in hull of ski and the dipstick has clear oil on it?

Cant find the source of the smoke and don't want to run it like that...
Any thoughts would be appreciated... Thanks in advance, Joe

An inner tube exploding seems like maybe the intake manifold popped?

No, the OEM plastic intake manifold sometimes comes apart at the seams.

They tend to crack just behind the union of the TB and the IM. Check there.

Thanks guys... I'll look at tomorrow. Just got back from Harbor freight. Had to buy some torx sockets to take the SC off. Will probably send away to have rebuilt and steel washers installed... I sure hope the intake isn't broke as they look to be around $500... Hoping nothings wrong and the fuel just ignited in the exhaust system... but the smoke under the seat worries me... where in the heck is it coming from...

Well I got the SC off looks to be in good shape. Do you/would you think it would be worthwhile sending it in and getting it rebuilt with the steel washers? It has 59.6 hours on it...you can just barely tell where the spring washers are no apparent wear. Or could i put the steel washers and bearings in myself? I'm putting roughly 10 hrs or so on my ski per year...

"It's really not that hard to do. Read thru Riva's instructions on how to change washers. If after that you don't think you want to try and do it yourself you can send them to me.

Link doesn't work? Is this ok to use

"Smoke under the sea"t problem solved as well. It would seem the fuel in fact did ignite in the exhaust system and blew the four inch exhaust hose off the resonateur...LOL

The clamp was just laying there and it didn't hurt the plastic... whew! dodged a bullet there!
